New- Local Option Operating Levy Information

amended 3/27/13

The Philomath School District is proposing a Local Option Levy tax on the May 21 ballot to generate additional revenue to support school programs during a time of decreased funding and increasing operating costs.   The link above takes you to information on the official filing on record at the Election Office, general information on the Local Option Levy and how you can estimate what the additional tax might be for your property.   A FAQ section will be added in the near future.

Superintendent's Annual Report to the Community

During my first two years in Philomath, managing the Bond-funded facility projects was the primary focus of my work.  This summer marked the successful completion of a Philomath High School facility improvement project, which culminated in approximately 97,000 square feet of new and 33,000 square feet of renovated high school space.  $9.4 million in voter approved, property tax financed bonds, part of which were used to afford $20 million in federal Quality School Construction Bonds, all at a resulting interest rate of less than one percent, was an important community project.  Thus far, students and community members have benefitted from the improved learning and co-curricular spaces.  The community support and investment in all of our school building upgrades will pay dividends in student learning and community partnerships for years to come.  Thank you, Philomath voters, for believing in your educational system and supporting your students.
