Recommended Web Sites

  • House Styles and Home Architecture - From About.com - This site provides good encyclopedic descriptions of house features and history, images, and links to building plans and diagrams in some cases.

  • Architectural Styles - Created by Professor Ingolf Vogeler at the University of Wisconsin, this is a comprehensive list of architectural styles, with diagrams, photos, and explanations of features. This site does not have as much historical information as other sources.

  • American Architecture - Very good explanations and history of selected house styles. Does not include as many styles as the other sites, but contains excellent descriptions.
