I will be available for help during Advisor periods or before or after school for students who need such assistance.
This week, we will begin the new unit in Realidades, Capítulo 9. The theme is media and methods of communication. Week of March 5 - 9, 2012
SPANISH 1A:
Throughout this week, students will continue to demonstrate their proficiency through final exam exit interviews with the teacher in Spanish. Students who finish their interviews should assist others as proctors in preparing for the interview. They should also be studying to take the readiness test for Spanish 1B, which will take place during the first week of the new trimester. Writing practice with step 5 of the flashcards for the units covered in Spanish 1A is crucial! Workbooks should be completed through the end of chapter 2 in preparation for beginning chapter 3 as soon as the readiness testing is finished.
SPANISH 1B:
This week, students will be taking their final exams over the content of the Spanish 1 (two-trimester) course. Monday will be a review and practice day. The final exam will take place in two parts: writing and composition on Tuesday, with vocabulary and grammar/usage on Wednesday. Thursday is the day to turn in all books and materials, as well as to conference with the teacher about grades and next steps.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Since students will not be starting the Spanish 2 class series until September and will therefore have a trimester plus the summer with no formal instruction or practice in Spanish, they will be given a packet of review materials to take with them for study and practice over the next six months. They will be expected to return to school without having forgotten the content they learned in Spanish 1A and 1B. Regular review and practice during the months that they are not in class will be essential for their success when they return.
